2008 Super Bowl – Super Bowl XLII Game Summary:
The 2008 Super Bowl, also known as Super Bowl XLII, took place on Feb. 3, 2008 at the U. of Phoenix Stadium
Glendale, Arizona.
In a game where many thought the outcome of this Super Bowl was already written, with the New England Patriots walking onto the playing field with a perfect 18-0 record against the 11-1 New York Giants, it proved to be a shocker all the way around!
At first, many thought it was unlikely that the Giants could defeat Dallas and Green Bay both at home, much less take on the mighty Patriots and actually win. But this happened in an unbelievable upset that saw the New York Giants defeat the (what many thought the unbeatable) New England Patriots in a score of 17-14.
The New York Giants defensive line was all over Tom Brady and sacked him 5 times, allowing the Giants to capitalize and put points on the scoreboard. All in all it was a great win for the Giants and proved that the Patriots and Tom Brady could be beaten. A fact many football enthusiasts believed wouldn’t happen any time in the near future.
Taking nothing away from Brady who played a stellar game, the Giants offense proved to be too much for the over confident Patriots, and were able to find the holes needed to gain the yards that ultimately led to the win!
